The Grey Council is the highest governmental body of Minbar. The Council elects the Leader of the Minbari-Federation, advises The First Chosen One (Valen) and rules Minbar in his absence. The Minbari Chosen One in sight by the First Ones is Delenn. Due to our spiritual culture The Grey Council does not only lead our people in a mundane, political way, but is also the highest authority for philosophical and spiritual questions. |
The Grey Council consists of nine members, three of each cast to guarantee the balance between the Minbari people. The three casts being, Religious, Worker, and Warrior. The Council was founded 1000 years ago by our great religious leader Valen, who was a Minbari, but not born as a Minbari. He united the three casts who often argued and even fought with each other. Valen taught us wisdom that we are one people, one voice. He enacted the command that no Minbari should ever kill another Minbari. |

Wisdom: But why we are grey? Grey is the middle between the white of light and the black of darkness. True wisdom means that you watch both and that you stand in the middle, because darkness cannot exists without light and light cannot exist without darkness. There is no absolutely evil or absolutely good, there are always two sides of a coin. Only if we accept both sides in us we can be whole. |
